Description:  Here is another view of SLSF 4-8-2 #4310 rebuilt from SLSF 2-10-2 #44 by the Frisco West Shops in Springfield, MO in 1937. The loco was finally scrapped in April of 1951. Specs - 70" drivers, 250 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 431,110 lb, tractive effort of 66,400 lb. Description:  This great looking 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive actually started out as SLSF 2-10-2 #44. It was rebult by the Frisco West Shops in Springfield, MO in 1937 into this massive 4-8-2 Mountain type loco #4310. The loco was later converted to an oil burner in 1946 for use in passenger service. Sadly, the loco was scrapped in April of 1951. A comment of the back of the photo states "Note "cut off" sandbox for trains 1-5-106 into K.C."
